"BAD SIDE OF TOWN" 09/08/04 It's that time again. Now, I'm not even sure most people get this, but I at least find it funny. So there. Anyway, the basic idea is how the stereotype of metal fans is to be dark, gothic, satanic and other words that no longer mean much in our current enviornment, like 'terrorist'. Seriously, that could apply to someone with blue hair, it doesn't mean shit. On top of this, being 'underground' automatically multiplies this effect by about 3. (calculations pending) The reasoning behind this comic is that pop, being the opposite of metal, must have its own extreme - insanely happy. Tada! ...doesn't make any more sense now, does it? Ah fuck it, I find it funny. This idea is an old one, one of my 'should've-been-paying-attention-in-class' sketches. If you look at my old homework diaries, they're all covered in drawings. Technically this is the fault of my friend Andy who, with good sense of humour and awesome drawing skill, pretty much single-handedly returned me to drawing. As a child I used to draw and read a lot, both of which I eventually grew out of. However, my drawing urge came back but my reading one didn't. Tragedy. :) |
